Special Educational Needs and Disability
At Hilden Oaks we value all our children and support their learning to ensure they are fully included in all school activities and reach their own, individual potential.
We regularly assess all the children’s progress, and where concerns are raised, we carry out screeners for a specific learning difficulty, such as dyslexia. Pupils who have more complex needs may need an Education, Health and Care plan and the school fully supports parent applications to the Local Authority.
In addition to ‘Quality First’ teaching in every class, we offer a variety of interventions and targeted support, delivered by teaching and support staff.
An independent Speech and Language therapist makes weekly visits to the school offering assessments and therapy sessions. We actively encourage the involvement of parents in all aspects of their child’s education and value the contribution parents make to ensuring we know the child’s strengths and difficulties, enabling us to deliver the most appropriate support possible.
